    As a national ecological demonstration zone, Tongzhou  has a beautiful environment, Many rivers with rich water, and with blend green water. There distributes North Canal, Chaobai River, Wenyu River etc. 13 rivers domesticaly, with total length of 240 km. Millennium Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs across through the city, with up to 42 km in Tongzhou drainage area. Grand Canal Forest Park built relying on Wenyu River, Canal City section has an area of one million acres, constituting the spatial layout as "one river, two banks, six parks, eighteen scenic spots," forming "city of wetlands" and "ecological oxygen bar" and a beautiful green barrier in Jingdong, adding more aura and moist to the new city. 2008 Beijing Olympic Games torch relay on Water was held in Tongzhou Canal segment.
