Tongzhou New City under the strategy of building Beijing into the world city

    After successfully holding Beijing Olympics and celebrating the 60th anniversary of founding of new China, the capital's economic and social development has entered a new stage of building a modern international metropolis. Beijing municipal government has developed a strategic plan of building "world city", demanded to examine the development of the capital to accelerate the implementation of development strategy of the "Humanistic Beijing, Science and Technology Beijing, Green Beijing ", making the construction and development of the capital adapt the needs of the nation and people.
    By the end of 2009, the seventh Plenary Session of the Tenth Municipal CPC Commission made it clear that " concentrate on every effort, focus on Tongzhou, with the help of international and domestic resources, accelerate to form a modern international Metro adapting to the development of capital as quickly as possible," which ushered in Tongzhou a rare historical opportunity to achieve leapfrog development. In June 2012, the 11th Party Congress of  Beijing raised the following goal: Further implement the strategy of focus on Tongzhou to build a fully functional sub-center; accelerate the construction of high-end business services in Tongzhou district of, and enhance the leading role in the development of the eastern zone.
    Tongzhou has been positioned a new location of sub-center of Beijing, which achieved a historic breakthrough in the strategic position. Meanwhile, Beijing's support for Tongzhou New Town multiplied daily, and Tongzhou obtained support from all aspects,such as organizational leadership, policy preferences, and other big project layout. In 2011, a coordinated command agency was formally established, headed by the  executive vice-mayor , and three Vice Mayors, developing a plan of action of building a modern international town from municipal level,meanwhile  a large number of quality education, health care, business resources was also  transferred to Tongzhou, creating the conditions for the further development of elements of agglomeration for Tongzhou.
